Sample type:

  • Plasma (lithium-heparin), frozen.

Uses:

  • Immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative determination of cardiac troponin T (cTnT) in lithium heparin plasma. The immunoassay is intended to aid in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.

Precautions:

  • It is recommended to ask all patients who may be indicated for this test about biotin supplementation.

  • Patients should be cautioned to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample.

Interfering Factors:

  • This test may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin.

Pre analytical errors:

  • Wrong patient identification while collection.

  • Error in listing the prescribed tests.

  • Delay in performing test.

  • Patient’s not properly prepared for the test.

Corrective action:

  • Correct patient identification while collection.

  • Prescribe tests in good listing.

  • Make the tests in time.

  • Prepare the patient properly for the test.

  • Failure in reporting.

  • Erroneous validation of analytical data.

  • Improper data entry.
