Precautions:

Fasting for 8-10 hours required.

Interfering factors:

Patients with insulinomas may have elevated proinsulin.

1. Collecting the sample on the wrong tube

2. Not applying the fasting

Corrective action:

1. Collecting the sample on the right tube

2. Apply the fasting before the test

Reference range:

The normal levels for fasting serum proinsulin levels are 7.9±1.5 pmol/l.
