Uses

1-Specific and sensitive marker for the presence of testicular tissue in boys with cryptorchidism.

2-When measured either alone or in tandem with measurement of hCG-stimulated testosterone, MIS levels can be used to guide the treatment of these patients.

3-Evaluation of the presence of any functioning testicular tissue in infants and children with ambiguous genitalia.

4-Early detection of recurrence in patients with ovarian granulosa cell tumors.

5-Assess the condition of PCO and premature ovarian failure.

6-Assess ovarian reserve

Precautions

1-Patient should be fasting 10-12 hours prior to collection.

2- Patient should not be on any medications that affect insulin secretion or intestinal motility, if possible for at least 48 hours prior to collection

Interferring factor

1-Menopausal women or women with premature ovarian failure have very low levels.

2-Not well-standardized test and not specific for malignancy. Interpretation needs to be in conjunction with clinical symptoms.

3-PCO

1_ menopausal women or premature ovarian decrease the rang.

2_ problems of reproductive system affect the result.

1-Writing a wrong result or wrong name in the report

3-If the patient’s gender wrong in the report, and therefore I wrote the reference range wrong.

The corrective actions

1- If the report is not delivered to the patient and this error is discovered the correct result or the correct name must be written, but if the report is delivered to the patient must communicate with him and tell him that an error has occurred and replace with the correct report.

2-Communicate with patient ,apologizing for the error, and providing him with the correct report.
