Determination of immune status of individuals to the measles virus using IgG antibody testing
Documentation of previous infection with measles virus in an individual without a previous record of immunization to measles virus
Precaution :
Patient Preparation:
no test preparation is needed.

Interfering factor :

Hemolysed, icteric, lipemic or microbially contaminated sera or plasma are not recommended for testing

A serum specimen collected during the acute phase of infection or soon after vaccination may yield negative for IgM- or IgG-class antibodies.
Pre - analytical errors:
Contaminated, heat-inactivated, grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, or severely icteric specimens are rejucted

1- Writing wrong name in the report
2- Writing a wrong result in the report
The corrective action
1/Make sure you write the correct name in the report or use codes that contain all patient data .
2/If the report is not delivered to the patient and this error is discovered the correct result must be written, but if the report is delivered to the patient must communicate with him and tell him that an error has occurred and replace with the correct report
Reference ranges:
Measles IgM antibody:

0.79 AU or less: Negative .

0.80-1.20 AU: Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.

1.21 AU or greater: Positive
Measles IgG antibody:

13.4 AU/mL or less: Negative

13.5-16.4 AU/mL: Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.

16.5 AU/mL or greater: Positive
