Uses

Aids in the diagnosis of leukocyte adhesion deficiency syndrome type 1, primarily in patients younger than 18 years of age.

Precautions

Do NOT centrifuge sample Keep at room temperature (18-22°C).

Interfering factors

1. Specimen older than 72 hours, mislabeled or unlabeled specimens :- Specimen must be processed at the reference laboratory within 24 hours of collection. Specimens 48 – 72 hours old will be processed and reported with a disclaimer if expression is absent.

2. Do Not centrifuge,do Not refrigerate or freeze.

Pre analytical errors

Unacceptable Conditions :- Frozen, clotted, hemolyzed or centrifuged specimens. Anticoagulants other than heparin. Specimens >24 hrs old.

Corrective action

1. Stability of sample :- 24 hours at room temperature (18-22°C) .

2. Maintain and transport specimens at room temperature (18-22°C).

Post analytical errors

1. Delayed reported results

Report available :- 3 to 4 days
